Potters from Ayeyawady River bank begin making traditional earthen pots

Potters working along the Ayeyawady River bank started their business of making traditional earthen pots as the spring is approaching. The pots can be distributed in time, according to pot distributer Ko Zaw Win Tun from Myingyan.

Most of the traditional earthen pots were made in Yantabo Village in Myingyan and Kyaukmyaung Village in Shwebo.

About 10 kinds of pots were mainly sent to Mandalay for sale via Ayeyawady River and also transported to Khandi, Mawleik, Homalin and NyaungU townships.

The wholesale prices of each pots range from K500 to K1,000 depending on the sorts of the pots.

“Potters of Ayeyawady River bank began making pots. We ordered pots from them and distributed them to the markets. Pots made in Yantabo Village are the best. The whole villagers are skilful of making pots. Therefore, they can produce quality pots”, the pot distribute said.

There are over 100 households in Yantabo Village. Pottery is their traditional family business.
