Passenger bus catches fire in Natogyi, no casualties reported

No one was injured after a passenger bus caught fire on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in Natogyi Township, Mandalay Region, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
    

The accident took place near milepost 307/2 on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway at about 9:15 p.m. on 20 February when a passenger bus with 22 people onboard caught fire while heading to Nay Pyi Taw from Mandalay. Firemen from a nearby highway fire station took about an hour to put out the blaze by using three fire engines. The fire is attributed to have started from an overheated wire of the vehicle.
    

No casualties were reported in the incident, but the vehicle was badly damaged by the fire. The passenger bus driver identified as Ye Phyo Thein, 44, is being questioned over fire negligence by the local police.—MOHA
