Myanmar will host the U-20 and U-17 versions of the 2022 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, according to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The AFC has already announced the host countries for the first round of the AFC tourneys group stages.
Myanmar, Bangladesh, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia Tajikistan and Viet Nam will host the first round of the Asian Cup U-17 Women’s Qualifiers.
Similarly, the first round of the Asian Cup U-20 Women’s Championship Qualifiers will be hosted by Myanmar, Australia. China, Chinese (Taipei), Laos, Mongolia, Singapore and Tajikistan. Thirty-four teams will compete in each of the two tournaments, which will be divided into eight groups of four, six and five units. Due to the pandemic condition, all AFC level football tourneys have shifted to next year. Thus AFF football authorities will hold the tourneys next year, with the first round of the AFC U-20 Championship in March and the first round of the AFC U-17 Championship in April.
Remarkably, the Asian U-16 Championship will be transformed into the Asian U-17 Championship. Last year, Myanmar teams qualified the Asian U-19 Championship and second round of the 2019 Asian U-16 Championship. Currently, training sessions for all the Myanmar football teams have stopped due to the COVID-19 second wave.
