MFF, FIFA discuss football development amid pandemic

MYANMAR Football Federation (MFF) president and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) vice president U Zaw Zaw discussed ASEAN and Myanmar’s football development along with difficulties during the pandemic period with Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) president Gianni Infantino through videoconference on 29 July, according to the statement with the MFF. 


AFC president Salman Bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa and presidents from football associations of ASEAN countries also attended the virtual conference. 


During the meeting, U Zaw Zaw discussed the coronavirus-preventative process of Myanmar Football Federation and Ayeyawady Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Sports, launching quarantine centres at Myanmar National Football Academies and Myanmar National Football teams’ apartments to help the quarantined persons during the pandemic period, hard times being faced by players and their families, and football sponsors in most of the countries due to the pandemic, and the preparatory process being undertaken by MFF for making ready to hold the football tourneys again after getting permission by the government. The MFF president also stressed on the equal rights of getting COVID-19 Relief Loan by FIFA and supporting women football tourneys nationwide. 


Next, FIFA president discussed planning to hold FIFA World Cup every two years instead of every four years and eight Asian countries to be included in the World Cup tourneys.
