Khumi Tribe celebrates traditional New Year in Paletwa

Khumi ethnic tribe held their traditional New Year festival in Paletwa, Chin State, yesterday with sports activities and concerts. The festival was opened with the song “Graceful Khumi New Year” by Khumi ethnic women.
At the festival, outstanding students of Khumi ethnic tribe were honoured and the winners in volleyball, Sepak takraw, taekwondo and tug sports were awarded with prizes.
The visitors were also entertained with Khumi ethnic songs and the bonfire dance.
Since 2014, Khumi ethnic tripe in Paletwa Township celebrates annual traditional new year festival on December 1.
The New Year festival is organized by Khumi Literature and Culture Association.
