Ayeyarwady Foundation has completed facilities of the biggest Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and High Dependency Unit (HDU) Centres for COVID-19 patients at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon since early this month.
With the help of the Ministry of Health and Sports, the latest 75-bed ICU and HDU centres are equipped with world-class medical equipment.
It has now expanded the ICU and HDC centres with 75 more beds for a total of 1,000 beds with staff from the foundation and a further 350 volunteers working together.
The Ayeyawady Centre has been providing emergency care services to the 75-bed ICU / HDU Centre since October 9, and will now be able to accommodate up to 125 ICU/HDU patients.
At the ICU, HDU Centre, medical teams led by Professor Dr Mya Soe; nurses and over 250 volunteers are closely monitoring the COVID-19 patients.
Moreover, the foundation has recently donated surgical masks to the Yangon Region government for use in needy areas of Yangon Region.
The foundation has utilized US$5 million for this COVID-19 treatment programme with further provisions by public.
