A house was destroyed in a fire that broke out in the village of Lawaa in Phakant township, Kachin state at 2 pm yesterday.
The fire broke out when a battery being charged with solar panel installed in the house became overheated and triggered a fire. The fire spread to the whole house. Local firefighters rushed to the fire scene and managed to put out the fire in half and an hour after it had started. A house that belonged to U Phaw Maw Monra was burnt down to the ground.
Local police pressed charges against U Phaw Maw Monra in connection with the fire.—Win Naing (Kachin Myay)
