Fire, explosion fatalities in Vietnam down in 5 months

A total of 1,259 fires and explosions happened in Vietnam in the first five months of this year, killing 41 people and injuring 93 others.


The fires and explosions also caused property losses of some 298 billion Vietnamese dong (about 12.9 million U.S. dollars), the country's Fire Prevention and Fight Department said on Wednesday.


Vietnam recorded 1,581 fires and explosions in the first five months of last year, which left 55 people dead and 83 others injured and caused losses of over 484 billion Vietnamese dong (21 million U.S. dollars).


In 2019, the country reported 3,755 fires and explosions which claimed 112 human lives, injured 177 people, and left property losses of some 1,400 billion Vietnamese dong (60.9 million U.S. dollars), said the department.
