Fire, explosion deaths in Vietnam down in 8 months

 A total of 2,064 fires and explosions occurred in Vietnam in the first eight months of this year, killing 61 people and injuring 129 others.


The fires and explosions also caused property losses of about 392.3 billion Vietnamese dong (nearly 17.1 million U.S. dollars), the country's Fire Prevention and Fight Department said on Thursday.


Vietnam recorded 2,720 fires and explosions in the first eight months of last year, which left 71 people dead and 119 others injured and caused losses of about 858 billion Vietnamese dong (37.3 million U.S. dollars).


In 2019, the country reported 3,755 fires and explosions which claimed 112 human lives, injured 177 people, and left property losses of some 1,400 billion Vietnamese dong (60.9 million U.S. dollars), said the department.
