Bushfire consumes 18 houses in Mongphyat Township

At least 18 houses were reportedly burnt to ashes in a forest fire Netnungkyal Village in Mongphyat Township, Eastern Shan State.

 

The fire started from a bushfire at about 2:15 p.m. on 25 March and spread nearby houses in the village before ceasing at about 4:20 p.m., said U Kya Mue, 60. Local security personnel led by Tactical Commanding Officer Col Kyaw Zin Aye, members of local militia, Acting Township Administrator U Soe Pyae, firefighters, policemen and local authorities rushed to the scene of fire to put out the flame.  

 

The fire destroyed 18 houses, 325 bags of paddy, one tractor, and two motorbikes. No casualties were reported due to the fire but the estimated loss of property was about Ks. 7.9 million. The tactical commanding officer and the acting township administrator donated relief supplies such as rice, instant noodle, cooking oil, salt, canned fish, and drinking water bottles to the fire victims.—Than Tun Aye (IPRD)
