Local residents from 50 households started evacuating in the morning of August 4 after the river level of Haungtharaw and Kyaing Rivers rose and entered the houses in the low-lying areas of Kyondoe and Kawkareik towns of Kawkareik District in Kayin State.
Local residents from 50 households in the towns of Kyondoe and Kawkareik have been evacuated from their homes to temporary relief camps opened by local authorities after some wards in the Township became inundated.
Departmental officials, local Tatmadaw members, firefighters, members of the Township Red-Cross Society and local people rushed to the incident scene and jointly provided necessary assistance to flood victims.—Khin Myo Win(District IPRD)
