An event to provide cash aid to people whose homes became relocated due to the danger of Irrawaddy riverbank erosion was held in the compound of the monastery in Pedaw Village in Minbu Township, Magway Region yesterday evening.

 

At the event, Chairman of the Township Disaster Management Committee and the Township Administrator U Aung Myin and officials met with victims of riverbank erosion and shared knowledge about the danger of riverbank erosion to them. This was followed by the provision of cash aid for victims of riverbank erosion.

 

Due to the danger of Irrawaddy riverbank erosion, 100 people from 60 households and cattle in Htonmakyi Village in Minbu Township were temporarily evacuated to the monastery in Pedaw Village in the Township.

 

Under this cash assistance program, 100 people from 60 households received a total of Ks. 231000 for purchasing rice, according to an official from the Township Department of Disaster Management.—U Myo Maung Maung (District IPRD)
