130 tons of illegal teak, Kanyin logs seized in Katha, Bamauk

As many as over 130 tons of illegal teak logs were confiscated in Katha and Bamauk Townships in Sagaing Region yesterday.

 

Officials from Bamauk District Forest Department led by Assistant Director U Myint Naing Oo combed plot-37 and plot-50 in the Mankat reserved forest and seized 69.2724 tons of illegal teak logs.

           

Similarly, officials from Katha Township Forest Department led by U Tin Tun, head of the said department together with local police and witnesses combed north Moetar protected forest and arrested U Kyi Nyo together with a saw mill and 65.112 tons of illegal Kanyin teak.

           

Action is being taken against U Kyi Nyo, an illegal saw miller, according to the law.—Lu Aung ( Katha)
