Senior General Min Aung Hlaing receives KNU/KNLA Peace Council Chair

COMMANDER-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met a delegation led by KNU/KNLA Peace Council Chair Saw Htot Lay at Bayintnaung Hall in Nay Pyi Taw on 4 September.

Lt-Gen Aung Soe and Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and KNU/KNLA Peace Council Vice Chair Saw Yin Nu and members were also present at the meeting.

During the meeting, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing discussed matters relating to strictly adhering to Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) which is the framework for peace processes to end conflicts and to build eternal peace.

Tatmadaw will firmly stand on NCA, and the view on peace process will not be changed, the Senior General said. He also said KNU/KNLA (PC) to work as a model of building eternal peace.

KNU/KNLA (PC) Chair and members said that standing on peace processes was their council’s resolution, and they join in hands with Tatmadaw till they reached Union peace goal via NCA.

They also reported matters relating to regional development, education, health, road communication and fundamental requirements.

Upon the reports, the Senior General said there are over 130 ethnic groups in Myanmar, and no one is left behind concerning with ethnic affairs.

He also affirmed considering the conditions that can include all ethnic groups and well-beings for all, stressing the importance of encouraging education for producing scholars and experts who will bring benefits to the region.

Health sector must be promoted to encourage education as education can be obtained if healthy, he added.

He added that Tatmadaw will implement the works that they alone can, and will cooperate with relevant departments to fulfil remaining development requirements, according to the news released by the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Office.
