September 22

The number of COVID-19 cases in Mongolia rose by 3,416 over the past 24 hours to 283,956, with the death toll added by 14 to 1,146, the health ministry said on Wednesday.

Two of the latest confirmed cases were imported from abroad, the ministry said in a statement.

Now, there are more than 84,000 active COVID-19 cases in the country, and most of them are being treated at home due to a shortage of hospital beds.

Mongolia launched a national vaccination campaign in late February, with the aim of vaccinating at least 60 percent of its population of around 3.4 million. So far, 65.3 percent of the population have received two COVID-19 vaccine doses, while 69.1 percent have taken their first doses.
