The Republic of the Union of Myanmar is home to more than 130 ethnic national people who have been preserving their traditional culture and customs since yore. Although they preserve their traditions and cultural heritage as much as they can, some of these items have faded out due to changes of lifestyle and lesser knowledge triggered by the generation gap.
Those ethnic national people are residing in various parts of the nation regardless of regions and states. They settle the appropriate areas to do business such as agriculture and livestock farming for their livelihoods. For a long time, the traditions and culture of those ethnic national people faded out as well as mixed with that of different ethnicities.
That is why the authorities as well as all the ethnic nationals are responsible for preventing the disappearance of traditions and cultural heritages in addition to identifying the original traditions and cultural items. It is necessary to educate the ethnic people to value their traditions and cultural heritages for long term existence.
The societies of those ethnicities possess more and more modernity and change day by day. They all have to accept new items of culture without alien ones but they have to taste traditions and culture of other ethnicities if they can accept them. They have to see the modernity for respective ethnic people but should not forget the traditions because culture and traditions are based on concepts, lifestyle and nature of their forefathers. So, new generation youths need to preserve their culture and traditions even if they want to taste modernity.
Traditions and culture cannot be bought. These cannot emerge immediately. As characteristics of respective ethnic national people are based on their culture and traditions, if they discard these items, it is sure that characteristics of such ethnicities would disappear in a short period. As such, all ethnic national people need to preserve their own culture and traditions as an inborn duty.
It is no need to compete for the traditions and culture among the ethnic people. All traditions and culture which reflect the lives and characters of various ethnic national people are in the same value. So, they all should serve each other to preserve the valuable traditions and culture for perpetual existence in the land of Myanmar. GNLM
