Myanmar to play Singapore in ASEAN Suzuki Cup opener

The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) has announced the group matches of the 2020 ASEAN Suzuki Cup, and the Myanmar men’s national football team will play against the Singapore team in the tourney’s opener.

 

The football federation has confirmed the fixtures after the drawing ceremony which was held on 21 September.

 

Myanmar is placed in Group A together with ASEAN powerhouse Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore and one qualifier team (Timor Leste or Brunei).

 

Defending Champion Viet Nam is placed in Group B with Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia and Laos.

 

According to the fixture, Myanmar will play against Singapore on 5 December, one qualifier team (Timor Leste or Brunei) on 8 December, Thailand on 11 December and the Philippines on 18 December.

 

Group A matches will be played from 5 to 18 December and Group B matches from 6 to 19 December.

 

The first leg of the semi-final will be played on 22 and 23 December, and the second leg on 25 and 26 December. The first round of the finals will be held on 29 December and the second round on 1 January.

 

Myanmar met with Singapore and Thailand teams in the 2014 version of the tourney and the Philippines in 2012.

 

According to the match schedule, the Myanmar team will play three matches in 6 consecutive days but will get 6 days off before the last match against the Philippines.
