About 1,200 tons of honey exported

About 1,200 tons of honey was exported during the first three month of this fiscal year, according to the Beekeeping Division under the Department of Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department.

This fiscal year experienced an export of 1187.6 tons of honey from 1 October to 31 December.
“This year demand is higher than the previous one. Therefore, export of honey will be increased this year. It is believed that about 1,000 tons of honey will be exported”, said an official from the Beekeeping Division.

This year saw the honey price ranging from US$ 1500 to 1700 per ton whereas the previous year saw the honey price ranging from US$ 1300 to 1500 per ton.

Sagaing region and Shan State are superior to other regions in terms of honey production. This year, honey is exported to US, China, Japan, Korea, Thailand and India, of which Japan is the largest buyer.
