Mongolia reported four new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking its total tally to 297, the country's National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) said Thursday.

"A total of 487 tests for COVID-19 were conducted across the country yesterday and four of them were positive," said Amarjargal Ambaselmaa, head of the NCCD's Surveillance Department, at a daily press conference.

Two of the new cases are Mongolian citizens who returned home from the Czech Republic on a chartered flight on Tuesday, and the other two are Mongolian nationals who returned home from Russia, said Ambaselmaa.

All the confirmed cases in Mongolia were imported, mostly from Russia, according to the center.

The Asian country has registered 269 recoveries, but no local transmissions or deaths from the contagious disease.
