Passenger bus catches fire in Mudon Township

No casualties were reported after a passenger bus caught fire in Mudon Township, Mon State, the Ministry of Home Affairs said.

The accident took place between mileposts 22/6 and 22/7 on Mawlamyine-Thanbyuzayet Road near Nyaunggon Village, Mudon Township at about 8:10 p.m. on 25 November. A passenger bus with 11 people was travelling to Dawei from Yangon and was driven by a man named U Aung Aung Myo, 46 years old with his son Kyaw Thu Naing as bus conductor. The fire is attributed to have started from an overheated wire of the engine and had ceased 30 minutes later.

No one was injured but the passenger bus was badly damaged by the fire. The driver of the passenger bus is being questioned over reckless driving by the local police.—MOHA
