Some residential areas in Phakant Twsp inundated by floods

Some wards and villages in Phakant Township, Kachin State were submerged by Uru Creek following heavy rains on the upper reach of the creek on August 10.
    

Some houses in low-lying area in downtown Phakant and villages in the township were inundated by floodwaters from the Uru Creek. A part of a bridge over Nant San Creek, the facility measuring 120 ft. in length, 10 ft. in width and 12 ft. in height was built at a cost of  K 60 million in 2019 was damaged by floodwaters.
    

A four-year girl from Hmaw Pone Village, Lone Khine Village-tract in Phakant Township was washed away by floodwaters after the kid fell into drainage on August 10.


The water level of Uru Creek was reportedly decreased and reached 2 ft. above its normal water level since early this morning.
