Police eradicate 15 acres of poppy plantations in southern Shan State

Authorities destroyed acres of blooming poppies in Htitanleik Village in Hopong Township, Southern Shan State yesterday, according to the township police chief major Hlaing Htway.


A combined team comprising police members from Hopong Police Station and Taunggyi anti-drug Squad, and security force from Military Computer and Technology Institute in Hopong destroyed 15 acres of poppy plants in Htitanleik Village in Hopong Township, Southern Shan State from 8:00 am to 4:20 pm on 18 January. 


Authorities reportedly destroyed 1089 acres of poppy plantations between November 27, 2020 and January 18, 2021 in Hopong Township, Shan State (South).
