MoHS calls for public participation, understanding in measures against COVID-19

The Ministry of Health and Sports organized the 44/2020 coordination meeting in video conferencing in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday, linking with regional level health authorities, to discuss updated measures against the Covid-19.
Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe first appreciated the strenuous efforts of health officials across the country in containment measures against the pandemic, and acknowledged effectiveness of regular video conferencing.
He advised to send medicines and medical items to the respective areas immediately.
The Union Minister asked to report updated numbers of persons affected by the travel restrictions, the health conditions of quarantined persons and activities of health workers.
Myanmar has 8 confirmed cases and over 470 persons closely contacted with them.
He emphasized importance of coordination to avoid misunderstanding among the respective sectors as all the health workers are performing their massive tasks.
The Union Minister stressed to list the restricted areas with the returnees from Thailand, participation of locals in community based facility quarantine programme and assistance of central level to the areas such as Kaying State, Mon State and Yangon Region, with a large number of returnees from foreign countries.
Health authorities also reported the updated numbers of quarantined persons in respective regions and states, legal action against a person who fled from quarantine, operating a call centre, establishing more designated hospitals for quarantine, requirement of rapid diagnosis test kits approved by the FDA of the United States, setting up a public health laboratory in Mandalay and distribution of PPEs.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
