Farmers start growing summer paddy in Demoso Tsp

With the irrigation water provided by an electric water-pumping station, eight dams and reservoirs including Ngwedaung dam, farmers started to grow summer paddy from the 2nd week of March in Demoso township, Loikaw district, Kayah state.

 

Depending on the age of paddy seedlings, some farmers began paddy-growing from the second week of March. In this paddy field, summer paddy growing started at the end of the second week of March and summer paddy has been so far grown in almost all paddy fields , said a farmer who grows summer paddy.

 

A total of 3104 acres of paddy field was targeted to grow summer paddy in the township and local agricultural department is providing fertilizers and insecticides for famers who want to help grow model paddy patches.

 

320 bags of compound fertilizer, 320 bags of urea fertilizer, 160 bags of potassium fertilizer, and insecticides were provided to 173 farmers from nine village-tracts.—Reyal (Demoso)
