Authorities are making an effort to check the vehicles at Yangon highway entrance gates after the Yangon Region government prohibited going outside of Yangon Region on 11 September, according to the officials from the General Administration Department. On 11 September, two checkpoints were opened on Yangon-Mandalay highway new and old roads in Hlegu Township. The investigations of the vehicles are also made on some roads in Hlinethaya Township from which the cars can leave for Ayeyawady Region.

On the first day, some vehicle owners are requested not to go out of the Yangon Region except emergency cases. So, the checkpoint authorities permit the travellers to go out of the region with an agreement under which they will not be allowed to enter Yangon Region till the COVID-19 issue is over. Next day, the authorities do not let the vehicles to go outside of the area for any reason except the health issue.

Yangon Region government announced that the residents would not be allowed to travel outside of Yangon Region until 1 October. However, the restriction is not effective for the cargo tracks. After the announcement has been made, the highway passenger bus lines have also suspended operation starting from 11 September, according to the person in charge of the bus lines.
