Wastes from the quarantine centres including hospitals, clinics and quarantine facilities in Yangon were incinerated daily after being disinfected by the Environmental Conservation and Sanitation Department of the Yangon City Development Committee, according to the YCDC.
“Staff are provided with personal protective equipment and they collect the garbage from the quarantine units of hospitals and clinics, and quarantine facilities every morning,” said Dr Aung Myint Maw, Deputy Head of the Environmental Conservation and Sanitary Department.
The sanitary teams are newly formed to carry out the special task of collecting and burning the wastes from the quarantine centres, he added.
The daily wastes generated from these centres are transported by 18 garbage trucks to the 20-ton incinerator in Hlinethaya Township.
After the wastes from the quarantine centres were burnt, the trucks and the staff are disinfected again, he added.
Myanmar had 20 positive cases as of 2 April 2020 and one of the patients passed away on 31 March.
More 58 patients with similar symptoms of Coronavirus infection are monitored and given care as the samples from them are sent to the National Laboratory (Yangon).
The authorities has been announced that anyone who returned from overseas will be quranted for 14 days. — Min Thit (MNA)
