Union Minister U Thant Sin Maung joins Asean Digital Ministers’ Meeting

Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Thant Sin Maung took part in the Asean Digital Ministers’ Meeting (ADGMIN1) with the Senior Officials Meeting (ADGSOM1) hosted by Malaysia online yesterday.
Malaysian Prime Minister Tan Sri Dato’ Hj Muhyiddin bin Yassin delivered his opening keynote address virtually at the event.
Union Minister U Thant Sin Maung discussed strengthening the cooperation among Asean countries towards the development of the digital ecosystems, development of digital economy, the transition towards the digital economy, better cybersecurity measures, the formation of the first committee on cooperation in cybersecurity.
The virtual meeting was also taken part by ministers, deputy ministers and senior officials from dialogue partners – China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, the United States, and the European Union (EU) – and the Secretary-General of International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Economy Community and officials.
Under the theme of ASEAN-Digitally Connected Community, the meeting discussed accelerating digital economy with the work from the home system during the pandemic, plans of member countries in the post COVID-19.
They also exchanged views on the importance of cybersecurity, approval of ASEAN Digital Master Plan 2025 for digital transformation for implementing a digital community and future plans.
