Union Minister attends central-level meeting, gives instructions on preventing Coronavirus

A daily central-level meeting on surveillance and control of coronavirus was held yesterday at the Ministry of Health and Sports in Nay Pyi Taw.
 

Speaking at the daily meeting 15/2020, Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe expressed his satisfaction at health authorities’ and workers’ coordinated efforts for surveillance and preventing spread of coronavirus infection in regions and states.
 

“However, we don’t need to reduce the momentum we gained in surveillance and prevention of the spread of Coronavirus infection though there is no infected patient still,” said the Union minister.
 

He also called for beefing up surveillance and raising Coronavirus awareness at the areas where Chinese nationals are living during their stay in Myanmar.
 

Besides, the awareness about the deadly virus should be carried out at factories where foreigners are working together with Myanmar employees.
 

The Union minister told the attendees that the ministry distributed about 240 mobile tablets to health officials and workers in Kachin State, Shan State (North) and (East) in efforts to disseminate knowledge on Coronavirus infection to the people.
 

The mobile tablets have stored 22 health posters, pamphlets and directives and procedure adopted by the ministry.
 

Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe also stressed the importance of understanding by the people about the effectiveness of the quarantine and restrictions in giving medical care to the patients.
 

He disclosed that the ministry has formed the clinical management committee to make the treatment effective, saying the ministry’s readiness for providing medical care to patients timely even if patients were infected with the virus.
 

He also stressed the importance of the early case detection in preventing the spread of the Coronavirus infection, saying that inmates who have got fever should receive medication for 14 days in quarantine.
Dr Myint Htwe also urged the authorities to conduct health talks at crowded places including schools, pagodas, markets and factories.

 

The meeting also discussed health condition of nineteen patients are being kept under watch and quarantined as they have high fever and temperature. The attendees of the meeting also reported on surveillance at three international airports and 27 border check points.
 

According to the discussion at the meeting, the health condition of 59 students returned from Wuhan, China, receiving for 14-day quarantine treatment are in good condition.
 

They also discussed the 24/7 emergency operations centre-EOC and hotline services at hospitals, stockpiling medicines and medical equipment and updated information.—MNA
