The trucks are allowed to use Yangon-Mandalay expressway temporarily from 5 October to 30 November to enable smooth flow of cargos in states and regions. The tucks, which will use Yangon-Mandalay highway, are allowed to cross after paying as per the type of vehicle and tonnes as prescribed by the Ministry of Construction.
The Ministry of Construction has already informed the Myanmar Highway Freight Transport Service Entrepreneurs Association of the rules that allow the trucks to cross the Yangon-Mandalay highway. The rules are: the truck drivers are not allowed to drive at a speed of more than 60 kilometres per hour and only use the right lane and not to stop on the road except 39th Mile, 115th Mile, 285th Mile and 352nd Mile truck terminals.
The truck drivers, who break the rules, will not be allowed to take the highway again.
The trucks will be inspected by the related committee to see whether they follow the rules and regulations or not. The highway police will also check the trucks on the highway. Myanmar Highway Freight Transportation Service Entrepreneurs Association submitted a proposal to the government to temporarily use Yangon-Mandalay highway during the stay home period to ensure rapid flow at the end of September. —Aye Maung
