Slight earthquake jolts Homalin Twsp

No immediate reports of damages or casualties were available following a slight earthquake which was recorded this afternoon, according to a source from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).


An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter inside Myanmar hit about 22 miles east of Homalin, Sagaing Region. It was recorded at 3:39 a.m. on September 1 at a latitude of 24.85°N, and longitude of 95.26°E, with a depth of 114 kilometers and about 75 miles northeast of the Tamu seismological observatory, the DMH announced.
