Six people Killed in house fire in Hakha Twsp.

A fire broke out in new market Ward in the town of Hakha, Chin State at about 6:15 am on 2 February, and completely destroyed two houses and killed six people.


The fire was thought to have started from overheated electric rice cooker in the home of U Hrang Cung, and spread to a nearby home.


Firefighters from the township and district Fire Service Department rushed to the scene to put out the fire in collaboration with auxiliary fire fighters and locals using eight fire engines and water tankers, and the blaze was totally extinguished. 


Family members of fire victims are currently taking shelter at the homes of their relatives, according to an official from the township Fire Services Department.
