Ayadaw, 9 July
The local police arrested seven men for allegedly betting on a cockfight in Ayadaw Township, Sagaing Region on July 5, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Based on anonymous tipoff, the police force led by head of the township police force Police Major Ye Lwin together with eye witnesses went to a location where a cockfight took place. They captured seven men including U Shwe Thein, 61, from Naung Gyi Ai Village, in connection with betting on a cockfight.
The police also seized three cocks, 26 different types of motorcycles, three mobile phones and k 751,500 at the scene. The cockfight bettors have been charged under the Myanmar Gambling Law by the local police station.
