Tanintharyi, 20 January
The township Department of Disaster and the Myanmar Red Cross Society jointly provided relief items and cash aid to fire victims in the town of Mawtaung, Tanintharyi Township in Tanintharyi Region yesterday.
At the event, the Pyithu Hluttaw Representative U Aung Kyaw Hein and the town Administrator U Aung Zin Htike delivered speeches and gave words of encouragement to fire victims.
Afterwards, officials from the Township Department of Disaster and Red Cross Society presented K 208400 for purchasing rice and building materials, a rescue kit box with 17 items and other relief items to four fire victims from a household in the village.
Fire broke out at around 2:00 am on 17 January in Myoma Ward on Pyidaungsu Raod-1 in the town of Mawtaung in Tanintharyi Township. The fire is believed to have started from an electric short circuit installed in the house.
