Police eradicate seven acres of poppy plantations in southern Shan State

Authorities destroyed acres of blooming poppies in Nakhaik village tract in Hsi Hseng Township, the Pa-O Self-Administered Zone of Southern Shan State yesterday, according to the township Police Station.


A combined team comprising police members from the township Police Station and local authorities destroyed seven acres of two feet high poppy plants about two miles east  of Htamhyan Village in Nakaik village tract in the township.


Authorities reportedly destroyed 850.5 acres of poppy plantations between September 25, 2020 and January 19, 2021 in Hsi Hseng Township, Shan State (South).
