Newly-built home-for-the-aged in Hsinbyugyun Township to first host 20 elderly people

Hsinbyugyun, 27 January

Construction of a home-for-the-aged named, “Shwekyun Hsesar” was 100 percent completed in Hsinbyugyun Township, Magway Region. The facility is set to be launched soon and will accept 20 helpless elderly people in the area, said founder of the home-for-the-aged Medical Superintendent Dr. Kyaw Htet Aung.

The land plot covering 1.5 acres for construction of the structure was donated by a prominent Buddhist monk in the township. A one-storey facility, one staff housing, one hall, one mess hall, a water tank capable of storing 500 gallons of water plus two toilets have been built with Ks. 70 million contributed by local people.

“The intention of establishing the home-for-the-aged is to provide better assistance to desperate senior citizens to be able to help them spend their last time in life in a peaceful and happy manner. We would receive 20 elderly people above 75 years old who can follow the home’s disciplines as an initial scheme,” said the founder. The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement provided 400 corrugated galvanized sheets to the home.

In addition Union Minister Dr. Win Myat Aye also donated cash assistance to the home during his visit on 28 May last year. Registration is being applied to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement for permission to operate the home legally.—Soe Moe Thu (IPRD)
