National flag carrier resumes Yangon-Magway-Sittwe flight

The Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) have resumed domestic services to Magway City, Ann and Sittwe in Rakhine State from Yangon since 1 June after it suspended commercial operations due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.


 The national flag carrier operated the Yangon-Magway-Ann-Sittwe flight since 25 June 2019 and halted operations on 11 April this year in order to protect passengers from the COVID-19 disease.


“The number of passengers who take the Yangon-Magway-Ann-Sittwe flight on a daily basis is around 100. We are responsible officials from the Department of Civil Aviation under the Ministry of Transport and Communications and our main responsibility is to execute the take-off and landing of the aircrafts at the airport in a safe manner. In addition, we also provide safety measures for passengers at entry and exit points in the airport,” U Min Aung, In-charge of Magway Airport said. 

   
The State-owned airline operates three flights per week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Ticket fare from Yangon to Magway ranges from Ks. 59,000, to Ks. 70,000 and ticket prices from Magway to Sittwe are set at Ks. 50,000 and Ks. 61,000.


Founded in 1948, the airline operates scheduled services to all major domestic cities and international destinations in Asia.
