Heavy rains force rural bridge to collapse in Myinmu

Myinmu, 16 October

An rural bridge on the Monywa-Mandalay Road in Myinmu Township, Sagaing Region was collapsed by incessant heavy downpours on 15 October.

Severe rains hit the area since the morning of 15 October. The reinforced concrete bridge is 30 ft. long, 18 ft. wide. The bridge collapse has led to a difficult situation for students and residents who traverse the bridge on a daily basis. To solve the problem, a temporary bridge will be built near the old one to be used by motorcyclists and pedestrians.

A group of local authorities led by Sagaing District Deputy Commissioner U Kyaw Win Hlaing rushed to the scene of the collapsed bridge and were assisting concerned officials in repairing it.
