Fire destroys four houses in Waw tsp

Waw, February 14

A fire broke out and destroyed four houses in the village of Kyauk Nhyat in Tanaw Kyun village-tract in Waw township, Mon state at 22:45 pm yesterday.

Upon a tip-off, a total of 20 fire fighters rushed to the fire scene, 20 miles away from Waw township Fire Department. The firefighters managed to bring the fire under control after 30 minutes using three fire engines and one water truck.

The fire is believed to have started from ember left in the kitchen of U Kyaw Myint’s house and then spread to nearby houses. The fire ravaged four houses but caused no casualties. Local police pressed charges against U Kyaw Myint for careless use of fire.—Aung Myat Lin (IPRD)
