Driver, coworker killed as passenger bus plummets into ditch

Two people were killed and 12 others slightly injured a passenger bus fell into drainage in Yebyu Township, Taninthayi Region, the Ministry of Home Affairs reported.
    

The fatal accident occurred between mileposts 20/3 and 20/4 on the Ye-Dawei Road in Yebyu Township, Taninthayi Region at about 3:20 a.m. on 24 July. A passenger bus driven by a man named Myo Min Hlaing together with his coworker Bhone Myint Maung plunged into a ditch after the driver lost control of the vehicle. Firefighters from a local fire service station carried out a rescue operation with the use of one fire engine.
    

The driver and his colleague were pronounced dead on the spot and 12 others sustained minor injuries in the incident. The deceased and injured were sent to a public hospital by an ambulance and the driver has been taken action over reckless driving by the local police.
