Devotees, merit makers throng to Nay Pyi Taw pagodas on Fullmoon Day

Devotees and merit makers thronged to pagodas across the country yesterday to observe the fullmoon of Tazaungmon. Pagodas in Nay Pyi Taw were no exception.
In the morning 11th Tazaungdine lotus-robe offering event and a ceremony to celebrate the successful conclusion of the 120th Pathana Pali chanting was held at Uppatasanti Pagoda, Nay Pyi Taw.
At the event Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee member U Aye Myint and officials offered Tazaungdine lotus-robe, alms, fruits, flowers and water to Buddha images at the pagoda.
Next, Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee member and guests took the Nine Precepts from the Nay Pyi Taw Lewe Town Paunk Myaing Pariyatti monastery Sasana Dhaja Dhamma Cariya Sayadaw Bhaddanta Candaw Basa and listened to the parittas. They then offered donations to the Sayadaws and Sanghas and shared merits for the meritorious deeds performed.
In the evening devotees and members from various religious organizations lit 9,000 oil lamps and recited parittas at the pagoda.
Similarly locals and pilgrims visited Nay Pyi Taw Satta Sattaha Buddha Gaya, Thatkya Ranthi Standing Buddha image, Datu Saya Dat Paung Su Pagoda, Phaya Koe Su, Koe Khan Gyi Pagoda and other pagodas in the Nay Pyi Taw.
Locals and visitors were also seen visiting Nay Pyi Taw Zoological Gardens, Safari Park, National Races Village and hot springs.
Later in the evening devotees and merit makers lighted up the pagodas with oil lamps.
