Cambodia on Thursday confirmed four new imported COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to 272, said a statement from the Health Ministry.

Three new cases were Cambodian men, aged between 26 and 30 years old, who arrived in the country last month from Russia via a connecting flight in Malaysia, the statement said.

"Their samples were tested for the sixth time on Wednesday, and the results showed that they were positive for the COVID-19," it said.

Currently, the trio are undergoing treatment at isolation wards in the Kampong Speu Provincial Referral Hospital, it added.

Another case was found on a 27-year-old Cambodian man, who returned to the kingdom last month from Indonesia via a direct flight, the statement said.

"The man's samples were tested for the fifth time on Wednesday, and the result showed that he turned out to be positive for COVID-19," it said.

He has been sent to the Preah Norodom Sihanouk-Tboung Khmum Hospital in southeastern Tboung Khmum province, it added.

The Southeast Asian country has so far recorded a total of 272 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 223 patients cured and 49 remained in hospital.
