13 Feb

The bronze statue of Bogyoke Aung San will be unveiled on his birthday today at the Thapyaygone roundabout in Nay Pyi Taw.

To mark the birthday of Bogyoke, Information and Public Relations Department of Ministry of Information set up a display room yesterday near the Thapyaygone roundabout.

The photographs on display reflect the student life, Tatmadawman life with thirty comrades, political life, family life and foreign visits of Bogyoke Aung San. The features of the show include his handwritings, excerpts from his speeches and the books and poems about him. The display room was crowded with visitors yesterday.

U Hla Myint, a visitor to the display room, said “I was interested since the bronze statue of Bogyoke was built. It is graceful after finishing it. Experiences and knowledge are gained from the display room as the records of political life and university student life of Bogyoke Aung San are seen.”

“I come to know about the Bogyoke Aung San by myself as I previously knew about Bogyoke from others. I bought the books on Bogyoke’s speeches. I’m very proud and will visit again with my children and grandchildren,” he added.

The display room to mark the Bogyoke’s Birthday will be opened until the evening of 14 February. —Shwe Pin Lae (Research)(Translated by KZT)
