Arrange public transport services for convenient trips of people

November 23

MYANMAR needs proper public transport services under a systematic management board for the people across the nation with relevant missions and visions for building a prosperous society.

The government enacted laws related to transportation such as the Motor Vehicles Law, the Board of Inland Water Transport Law and the Myanmar National Airlines Law for providing systematic public transport services to the people.

The transport service comprises road transport, rail transport, waterway transport, maritime transport, aviation transport and others. All these services emphasize the transport of passengers from one place to another by cutting the time. From the ancient eras to date, various kinds of vehicles such as bullock- cart, pony cart, small boat, sampan and steamed locomotive were used in transport.

The government promulgated the laws related to transportation for ensuring the convenience of public travellers and traffic safety. In fact, public transport plays a key role in the improvement of economic, education, health, social and culture affairs, and swift flow of commodity.

Only when the transport service is good, will the people have an equal term of rights in all aspects. As such, the government is striving for operating public transport so as to cut valuable time, cost and fuel. To do so, strict rules and regulations should be adopted for operating the transport services with schedules on exact arrival and departure at each terminal. In addition, theproper payment system must be set for the convenience of passengers along their routes.

Likewise, comprehensive management is of great importance in operating smooth transportation. In implementing the public participation of transport services, it is necessary to seek advice from experts from the transport arena and standards for services from the authorities.

Moreover, the customer first is crucial in public transport. The whole service must give satisfaction to the passengers. Likewise, operators from the bus lines, vessels, trains and aeroplanes would become the prioritized employees. Emphasis must be placed on building the capacity of drivers to have the qualified skills to associate with the passengers on a daily basis. Skilful drivers never focus on their interests but the passengers.

As such, both government and people should harmoniously participate in the implementation of safe public transport services through comprehensive plans for upgrading the living standard of the people.
