23 fuel oil stations granted across the country in Jan-Feb 2020

About 23 more fuel oil stations have been granted in the first two months of 2020 making the number of total stations reach 2,704 across the country, according to the official statistics released by the Ministry of Electricity and Energy.

 

A total of 2,389 private fuel oil stations have been opened across the country as of 27 December 2018. A total of 292 more stations were issued with the licence within a year, the total number reaching 2681 in Myanmar as of 31 December 2019.
 

As of 29 February 2020, the ministry has already issued licences for the opening of 2,704 fuel oil stations across the country including 95 fuel oil stations in Union Territory, 188 stations in Yangon, 658 in Mandalay, 213 in Ayeyawady Region, 271 in Bago Region, 196 in Magway Region, 245 in Sagaing Region, 30 in Taninthayi Region, 121 in Kachin State, 18 in Kayah State, 53 in Kayin State, 5 in Chin State, 138 in Mon State, 38 in Rakhine State, 58 in eastern Shan State, 195 in northern Shan State and 182 in southern Shan State.
 

On 3 April, the price of one litre of fuel oil stood at K530 for diesel, K540 for premium diesel, K400 for Octane 92, and K560 for Octane 95 in some fuel oil stations in Yangon region. The price of one litre of fuel oil has declined by K455 for diesel, K455 for premium diesel, K505 for Octane 92, and K435 for Octane 95 when compared to the prices of fuel oil on 8 January 2020. The Ministry of Electricity and Energy announced on 27 September 2019 that the fines have been raised to K1 million in the event of the quality and quantity not up to the prescribed standards. —Aye Maung
