A total of 21 Myanmar nationals stranded in Bangladesh due to the suspension of international flights returned by a relief flight arranged by Myanmar Embassy in Dhaka yesterday. The relief flight from the Myanmar Airways International (MAI) carrying the Myanmar nationals landed at the Yangon International Airport yesterday.
Similarly, 108 stranded Myanmar nationals in the US and 21 in the Republic of Korea were also repatriated by a relief flight arranged by Myanmar embassies in Washington and Seoul. The relief flight from the Myanmar Airways International carrying 129 Myanmar nationals landed at the Yangon International Airport yesterday. At the Yangon International Airport, officials of Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, Ministry of Health and Sports and Yangon Region Government have provided them with arrangements for 14-day quarantine at designated centres, seven-day home quarantine and medical check-ups in efforts to prevent the coronavirus infection.
For the repatriation of Myanmar citizens who were stranded in foreign countries by relief flights and chartered flights in accordance with the instructions from National-Level Central Committee on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cooperated with the relevant ministries and Myanmar embassies from respective countries.
